........You know it's hot when your electric bill is $286.00!! Holy heat wave Batman! I think that is the highest our electric bill has ever been. This summer's heat has definitely been intense and unrelenting. In fact, about 3 weeks ago my husband and son-in-law tinted the windows on the west side of the house. From the inside, that definitely made a difference in the temperature in the rooms.
We are going to have to do better on monitoring the AC temp. During the day, the thermostat is set on 78 degrees. But when we both get home, it goes down to 76-75 degrees. That cool air feels soooo good! I will have to contact the power company to enroll in their average billing plan. When we first moved here, I tried to enroll in to but you have to have a year's history of billing cycles to average the bill. That makes sense! Duh!
Today's agenda includes more yard work. We have an oak tree to trim, and then haul off the branches to the landfill. We took about 300 pounds of limbs to the landfill last week, I am hoping that this will be the last load. After that, we have the usual stuff to get done.
The beach is so close, only about an our away and we have yet to get there this year. This is going to be a short term goal before the end of the year. I just love the ocean and the sand. Time to get busy around here!

I hope you get to make it to the beach. It is by far one of the best things about living in Florida next to no state income tax :). Electric bills can get high down here though. We recently got a new AC unit because ours was really old and while it was a big up front cost the electric bill has dipped a bit!
Wow -that is a HIGH bill ! Beautiful beach, though, so hopefully it's worth it ;)
Definitely get to the beach. It should be a nice, relaxing break. Also, tinting windows? I've never heard of that, but it makes absolute sense! Tried those thermal curtains? They're supposed to reduce heat, or at least contain it to the windows.
Ouch! That is a high electric bill. I'd say go to the beach and enjoy the cool breeze!
Hoping to do better this month on the electric bill!
We have thermal curtains and they do help as does the window tint. It is just plain HOT!
The beach is great therapy for me!
my husband is an AC guy, so next year with our expected tax refund we will be getting a new unit for the home. Can't wait!
