I took my son J into town this morning and dropped him off at the courthouse. He has his second court appearance this week and then we should know the outcome of his probation violation. He went to court yesterday, and found out that he will have to serve 45 days. For driving without a license. He will turn himself in next Monday for that.
After I dropped J off, I headed to work through downtown. Here is a picture of the Christmas Star that hangs over the main thoroughfare. I love this star! It reminds me that things are not as bad as they might seem and there is always hope.

It's a very pretty star and gives you something positive to focus on as you support your son through tough times. In the grand scheme of things his problems are small, it's all about the perspective.
It is weird that we go through these times in our lives that we think we will never make it through, but we do. It is important, as you are doing, to see that there is hope and something good will come out of this. Especially if you keep your positive attitude.
Jane @ You are right. It is all about perspective. I realize that my son has lessons to learn and this is just part of the process. THanks for all of your kinds words and support!
Niki @ My attitude is positive. I know that J will be fine and that he will grow from this experience. And it is about time for him to move on from his current lifestyle into a better one. Thanks for your kinds words and support!
This is going to be the making of your young man. I see nothing but positive things for you.
Love the star.
Love the star!!! Focus on the positive for sure. you will get through this ;)
It is a very nice Christmas star. I hope you will enjoy your Christmas in spite of a hard time that you are going through right now. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I'm amazed that he is getting 45 days. My deadbeat neighbor (well, the grown son that lives there I should say) has been in and out of prison and jail since the early 80s and is currently on house arrest with an ankle monitor pending his trial ... latest thing? Robbing a bar, eluding police, ramming a police car, resisting arrest, attempt murder with deadly weapon (vehicle) on a police officer, etc., over a year ago this happened and each month for the trial date, he goes and gets another extension. Continues to drive and have friends over ... irks me to no end and your son got 45 days!!!?? I totally wonder about the system ... sorry for venting ...
