Five Things Friday

**( I  did write this at hospital but could not get it to post) **It is 6 AM and I am sitting in the surgery waiting room. Mom is already back in pre-op and her surgery is scheduled for 830 AM. The surgery is to repair the area on her scalp that is not healing from her previous biopsy. The procedure will take about 2-3 hrs. She will probably have to stay in the hospital for a couple days, hopefully not any longer.
Most of my day will be spent here at the hospital, but I will still try to get a few things done while I am waiting. First, I will move some money around online and pay my bills. Thanks to my mom's generosity, our debt is greatly reduced! More about that very soon.
I brought my notebook in my purse and I will be working on some ideas for upcoming blog posts. Somedays the ideas for posts come much easier than other days. I am going to take this time and pencil down some thoughts for this blog and my other blog, Happy Girl Collectibles.
I can also work on our budget and upcoming projects around the house. My husband always has a list of projects to do around the house. There are also some appliances that need to be replaced as well. Projects include finishing the painting of our house. When we moved in about 19 months ago,we did get most of the outside painted. All that we need to finish is the trim. We also need a refrigerator as ours leaks on occasion.
While I am waiting today I will have the opportunity to read a book, and that has not happened for a long, long time!

It might just be Four Things Friday today. I have run out of things to get done today. Mostly I will be waiting, I guess tat is my number 5 thing today :-)
Hope you all have a great day today!

**Mom's Surgery was a success and she is resting comfortably at the hospital.**

Five Things Friday 12/28/12

Another crazy busy week, probably the same for you all too.  I went back to work on Wednesday and thought it was Monday.  Today seems like Sunday, so I am all goofed up when it comes to staying track.

I only worked half a day Wednesday as mom had  her surgery (minor) to remove the basal cell cancer from her scalp.  The biopsy said it was not related to her breast cancer, but you always wonder about that.  She had the surgery at an outpatient surgery center because he surgeon said that the scalp bleeds a lot and it would be easier for everyone if she just had the procedure there.  They did use sedation (propofol) but did not intubate.     The surgeon also said when he removed the cancer from her scalp he could see the screws from her brain surgery last year. That was too much information!

Here are  my Five Things Friday for the last Friday of this year!

1.  I bought new calendars for 2013.  I am going to transfer important dates and appts to the new calendars and try like heck to stay on top of them this year.  I have one calendar for family stuff like birthdays, appts, and so on.  I also have a calender for my blog.  This year, I am going to try to be more organized when it comes to blogging and actually schedule posts so that I don't waste too much time.   I will also incorporate or dedicate specific time to eBay as well.  We will see if it helps.

2.  Check out Weight Watchers.  Weight has always been a problem but will all the family drama going on I have definitely packed on the pounds with my emotional eating.

3.  Get back to listing items on eBay.  December has been so busy that I have been slacking and I need to get back on track.   I have been able to find lots of great deals on vintage Christmas items at the thrift stores and am excited to get them listed.  Here are some of my tips for Thrift Store Shopping.

4.  Clean out my desk at work.  It has become a dumping ground for magazines, and coffee cups.  It is a mess and today I am going to spiff it up!

5.Organize my  pictures!  This is an ongoing project.  I have photos on my laptop, flash drives, and my camera.  I am trying to get them all in one place.  Have any of you used Flicker for your photo storage?  Any suggestions?

That is about it for my Five Things Friday.  What about you?   What is on your list today?

Five Things Friday

We had a great Thanksgiving with friends and family.  Dinner went well and afterwards my husband and I watched a Godfather movie marathon until the wee hours of the morning.  We have seen the movies dozens of times but that did not stop us.

Today it is time to get caught up on  things around the house, after a stop at the Thrift Store.  I don't need anything really, but I just want to get out and enjoy the day for a couple of hours.

So here is the breakdown for today:

1.  Hit the Thrift Stores, they usually have their own Black Friday Sales.

2.  List at least 10 items on eBay today.  It will be vintage clothes that get listed today.. They are the  most time consuming but definitely the most profitable.

3.  Dinner will be easy, leftovers from yesterday.  then that will  be it for the leftovers.

4.  Catch up on the wash.  Yesterday was a cook all morning and eat all afternoon day.

5.  Work on my 2013 Goals.

What is on your list today?

Five Things Friday

1. Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes: I had planned to hey the shoeboxes to the collection center earlier this week. That did not happen and I will be borrowing my daughter's truck to take them tomorrow :-). The final count collected is 85 boxes. I also provided 11 of the boxes to be filled by friends. The final count will be 96 shoeboxes!!

2. Plan a list for grocery shopping for thanksgiving dinner. I still have to get a turkey but my daughter in law is going to cook it. I am making cornbread stuffing that is a family favorite. Recipe will be posted early next week.

3. Tonight, I need to put up the clean clothes. There is two baskets of them. Better clean than dirty.

4. Talk to hubs about our Christmas shopping plans. He is such a kid a heart and solves the holidays. We just need to keep it affordable this year. I want a chicken coop. But we will see about that.

5. Coordinate with local elementary school to set up an "angel tree" at church. Our church members could select an "angel" that has info on a needy child and what they would like for Christmas.

That is it for now. My lunch hour is almost done so it is time to get back to work!

Five Things Friday

Happy Friday! Following Carla's lead I am going to organize my Friday by listing the five most important things to do today.

1. Our renters are having problems with the dishwasher that is in the house. It had a warranty on it, I need to follow up and get it looked at. First I have to call the warranty company because I still can't find the policy.

2. Call the groomer and get an appointment to get the dogs bathed and clipped( especially their nails)

3. Pack four items this evening to ship tomorrow. eBay has been pretty steady lately, I am happy about that.

4. Balance checkbook. Really behind on this... It had been a long week and I have not had time to do it.

5. Take some time this evening and relax. Really looking forward to sitting on the porch with hubs and have a glass of wine ( or two) and reconnect.

I am off to find the phone number of the warranty company! Wish me luck!
