Recently I came across a great new blog, "Goodwill Haunting". She highlights some of her great finds that have really been money makers for her. My husband and I have also come across some great finds too and we wanted to share them with you.

This is the garage sale purchase that just keeps giving. A few months ago, after I dropped off my grand son, I hit up a few garage sales in her neighborhood. This particular sale was small, but you should never discount a small sale. As I was looking through their stuff I spotted this cardboard box full of Space Shuttle memorabilia. There were 16 coffee mugs that documented different space shuttle missions. There was also paper memorabilia that relates to the different missions, about 12 pieces. And last but not least there were a couple of space shuttle stick pins and belt buckles.
Originally, the box was marked $2.00 per item. Well, it was getting late in the day and I asked him what he would take for the whole box. He thought it about it and then he said $10.00. Easy decision... SOLD!! This was a great deal for me. I have all the items listed and for a $10.00 investment, I have grossed to date, $ 159.00. We still have about 8 mugs left, and some of the paper memorabilia as well.

It can be profitable, but it is definitely a labor of love.

Shipping is calculated by me and charged to the buyer.

Awesome! I used to do this myself and found it quite profitable! My best find was 6 mini Harley Davidson Motorcycles. I bought they for $11 and sold them for around $110 or so. It was an awesome feeling when I did that! Way to go, I can't wait to hear about your next finds!
Great job indeed. I have thought about doing this- buying cheap and making a profit but I just haven't had time. One of these days I will get on it.

I never knew space mugs can go for that much, but it makes sense. Recently I started looking online for some milk glass vases and cups - and, wow, the collectors really drive up the prices!

Wow. That is awesome! You are very smart and know what items are valuable. At one time, I ended up buying a show box filled with MTG cards. I eventually sold all of them at $50. I paid $3 and made a nice profit. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to continue this as it is difficult to find items that are worth your investment.
Wow, what a find! I love watching Storage Wars for just this reason. The thing with that show though is that you never know if they actually make what the item was estimated at. You are sharing what you HAVE made so far, which is more important ultimatley. Have you had any other good finds like this?
