How Does That Happen?

This morning was like every other morning. I get up at 5:30, put on coffee, do a quick check of my E mail, check my bank account... (Friday is payday and I have been a little spendy lately) and get in the shower and so on ......

I am leaving to go to work, I rush out the door and when I get to the car I realize I forgot my lunch. Fine. I get out of the car, get my keys out, unlock the door, and "rush" back in towards the kitchen and it happens. In slow motion. With narration.... heard only by me. in my own brain.

I mis-step on a doggie toy, lose my balance, and fall ( without grace, I might add) face first but my left arm breaks my fall. It takes the brunt of the weight behind the fall, if you know what I mean. And then its over. I am face down, sprawled out on the floor.

I move my limbs and I feel that nothing is broken. Swell... no witnesses either as hubs was still sleeping. Who knew he was such a heavy sleeper! I get up, get my lunch and off to work I go.

When I get to work, I get my first patient and start the ultrasound exam. I scan with my right hand and type with my left. While trying to manipulate the knobs to improve image quality (using my left hand) I realize that there might be a problem.

I cannot lift my left hand above my elbow. Pain. Shooting Pain. OUCH. Great....
So there are advantages to working in the imaging field. After I finished my patient, I spoke to my Radiologist and he said lets do a MRI of your left shoulder to see what is going on.

So between MRI patients and Ultrasound patients, I managed to get the MRI done. The results.......

I have a small tear in my left rotator cuff. OUCH. The Radiologist is sending my to his Orthopedic Doctor to evaluate the extent of the damage. The appointment is Friday morning, apparently he is a very busy man. I left work at lunch with my arm in a sling. The Radiologist said take it easy on your arm and see what the orthopedic doctor says on Friday.

So, I am following doctor's orders.

Sounds like something I would do with my kind of luck. Don't you just love those slow motion moments?

Good Luck with your appointment. Hope all goes well :D

I had similar freak accident. I was coming home from work and went to mailbox. I heard growling noises behind and looked to see two dogs under a tree across the street. I started up my driveway and looked back to see the dogs rushing towards me. I panic and start to run, tripped and fell face first but at the last second used my hands to break my fall. End result broke my left elbow and my right wrist. You do not understand misery until you do not have the use of either arms for more weeks than I care to remember.

Hi corinne...

Yes, the slow motion moments are something else. I can remember them better than what I ate for dinner yesterday! Go figure!

Hi anonymous #1...

I consider myself very lucky to only have injured one arm and not both. You must have been very miserable!!!

Hi anonymous #2,

YOu are right, I have not been posting many money saving posts as of late. I don't think the flavor of the blog is changing, but maybe it is being enriched by more personal posts. Sometimes I am all over the place. It's just me.
Thanks again for your comment.
