Lakeridge Winery Fun

It was a lazy day today and  we wanted to get out of the house and do something different.  We headed up to Clermont, which is about 30 minutes away to visit  Lakeridge Winery.

At the winery, you can go on free tours that tell you about the winery's history and at the end of the tour you can take part in a wine tasting.  The tour included a 15 minute video and a  20 minute tour of the facilities.  It is not a huge place, only about 75 acres but we did learn about the facility and about wine in general.

At the tasting, we tried a red, a Chablis, a not so dry red, and moscato white, a champagne, a sherry, and a port.  Overall, we liked the moscato white called Southern White.  I did like the port too, but my husband did not.  Our absolute favorite sampling was a warm red wine mulled with spices.  We both thought this would be great for the holidays.

It was a great way to spend the day. Oh.... we did come home with two bottles of the Southern Red and a spice bag.  We want to be prepared!

sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day! (and the wine was needed for the season, so it is a good thing!)

I love mulling red wine for Christmas - I think I still have some of the spices in the cupboard. Sounds like you had a heavenly day:)
This morning I sneaked upstairs to have some "me" time and a few minutes later in came Michael and he hasn't stopped talking...now I can hear my daughter moving around upstairs...guess I didn't get up early enough:) RATS!

I love , a day at our local Winery the food is above excellent and the scenery is exquisite and they also have live Entertainment at " A day On The Green ", I think the next one is in January and it,s INXS. The winery is Sirromet and well worth a visit, so glad to see you came away with a couple of bottles, enjoy.

Jane@ I did not get my "me" time this weekend... but that was okay. I will have to plan for it better next weekend.

Maureen@ THis was our first visit to the winery and I really had a great time! CAnnot wait to do it again!

I love wineries and I love wine. Lately, I discovered Malbec (Argentinian red wine). You should try it and see if you'd like it. We don't have wineries where we live but I visited once four wineries in California. Had a blast and brought back some goood wine.
