$500 HOLIDAY CHALLENGE UPDATE

Only 36 more days til Christmas.  Thirty six days  seems like a lot of time, but you know it is going to go by QUICK!   I am striving to be mostly done by Thanksgiving.  Mostly.  But, if I don't quite make it, I at least know I will be about 90% ready.

This week, I did manage to get about 9 gifts wrapped.  These are items I had purchased earlier this year.  Mostly small items, jewelry and such.  I have a few more things on hand to wrap, but I need to pick up some shirt boxes today.  Luckily I have enough gift wrap on hand to get the job done, but what I can't find is the "name tags" for the gifts.  What usually happens, is I will find them AFTER I have already made name tags out of the gift wrap.

What I have been procrastinating on is putting the photo calenders together for several family  members.  I am determined to get that done THIS weekend!  I only have one done, and I have about 4, maybe 5 more to do.  It is hard to select just the right photograph.... there are so many to chose from!

Earlier this morning, I went online to MyCokeRewards and redeemed some of my points for magazine subscriptions as gifts for family members.  My daughter is a fitness nut so she will be getting "Fitness" magazine, and my son in law likes to cook, so he will be getting "Everyday Food" from the Food Network. I have a few more points to redeem, it is just trying to decide which magazine to get for my mom.

I still have about $150.00 in Amazon gift cards to redeem.  I have been accumulating them all year with SwagBucks..  I would have had more, but I used some to purchase a vascular ultrasound study guide which was about $80.00.    I have yet to decide how to spend the Amazon gift cards.  Will have to figure that out this weekend too.

Here is where I stand so far:

I just used all of my Swagbucks on things that me and the Bf wanted. None on Christmas presents, we were too tempted.

I haven't even started! But I only buy for 3 people so I guess it won't be too bad.

I am working on making Christmas gifts today using items we have on hand. I still have a long way to go, plus I have one child's birthday before Christmas for which I need to make gifts (I am working on one of those today as well).

I haven't started and am seriously considering not starting. I am not spoil sport, I promise;it is juts that the last couple of years my presents for grown up sons have been really not appropriate. Shall I buy them a book each and give them some cash?

How did you earn so much from swagbucks? It's hard to earn swagbucks at least for me. There must be an easy way... Thanks

I agree that it can be difficult to buy for adult children. If all else fails, my grown sons are happy with gift cards form their favorite store

Putting it off til the last minute, eh?

Excellent! I wish I was crafty and could think up things to make.

You can knock that out in a day!

You still have time!

I am very impressed by your organization Lisa. Due to massive household expenses this year (kitchen floor, kitchen appliances, air conditioner replacement, roof replacement) we are running a little behinf schedule. We'll be buying for our children only, and we're ok with that.

My wife takes care of shopping because she enjoys it much more than I do. A few years ago, she started to make a number of gifts so shopping may be for materials. She starts early because she needs the time to make it.

I earn by entering the URL of addresses I plan on visiting into Swagbucks rather than going there directly. I even use it to get to my own blog!

Lisa you're the BOMB! I can't believe you've bought for all of those people and only spent $144 so far! Wishing I had a little of your magic! All I can say is I'm on budget so far - thank goodness for a gift account. It sure makes life a whole lot easier!

I thought I had finished mine but I think there might be a few people I still need to buy for. I also rewards points as well that I think I will use.

Congrats on having so much done. I have gifts ready, but I haven't wrapped them yet. I usually save that for the 24th because I really don't like wrapping presents. :()

I like the look of a wrapped present, but when it comes down to the wire, I will use a gift bag :)
So much easier!

I am still not yet quite finished, but almost. If I can just stay out of the stores!

One day at a time......

Last minute shopping is fun too!

I think we are both doing better this year Jane!

I like your wife's plan. Home made gifts are definitely very thoughtful.

CentsToSave said...

Wow, you sure had some major expenses this year! It will be great to celebrate Christmas in a home with all those finished projects.

CentsToSave said...

I hope they get their list to you soon! Otherwise there is always the ever so handy Giftcard as a gift.

I use it for everything too Penny!
