Happy Thanksgiving and What I Am Thankful For

Today, I just have to cook a few things to take to my daughter's for Thanksgiving.  Cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole.  The cornbread is already made, and it wont take to long to complete the rest.

It is nice to get up to a quiet house and reflect on what I am thankful for this year.  Today is the my parents 55th wedding anniversary!    They have had an amazing journey that took them all over the world.  My dad served 27 years in the Air Force and my mom served 6 years in the Air Force.  We have lived in Japan, as well as in several states.

This is a photo of them probably 56 - 57 years ago at "Frontier Days" in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

I am also thankful for my family, all of whom are well and happy.  There have been bumps along the way with some of my grown children, (some more than others) but I thank God for each and every day that they are a part of my life.

I am thankful for my husband, as we too will be celebrating our 33rd anniversary next month.  We are junior high school sweethearts, so we actually have been together for 37 years.  Yeah..... that IS a long time.   But I have to say, we are still having fun!

One of the biggest blessings in my life is my grandson.  I would have never thought I could possibly love someone soooo much.   He is the absolute light of my life.

I am truly blessed.  I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving with your friends and family this year.....

As a dual citizen that lives in Canada I'm always sad I can't celebrate USA Thanksgiving. Have a great time with friends and family! I'm thankful for the great football games I get to watch today (in addition to the much more important stuff that you mentioned of course).

I must say I too am grateful for the people in my life. They really are precious and I am so lucky to have them.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. In the UK we don't have an autumn/fall holiday at all. The equivalent Harvest Festival is generally a little earlier but is a religious event not synchronised across the nation - even adjacent parishes will be different...:-)

For a minute I thought you were going to say you were thankful for Roy Rogers and Dale Evans! ( I AM dating myself!) Your parents look very happy and I'm glad you and DH are too - that is a LONG time to keep a relationship going and still have FUN! Glad to hear it!

LOL! Another friend said my mom reminded her of Annie Oakley! Hilarious! And 33 years IS a long time. But our mentality is still stuck in high school.

Thanks! 55 years is quite an accomplishment. I would have to agree.
