Getting Back To Normal....... For Now

Over the last few months, I took a break from just about everything!   This last year has been one heck of a roller coaster ride emotionally, at least for me.   It has been a year since I was laid off from the new job  .
I have to say that getting let go last August was probably going to be one of the least of my challenges.

My son Chris and me
In December 2012, mom had her first hospitalization for her returning cancer.  Oh yeah.... that WAS definitely a high stress time.  We moved in with my parents for almost 3 months to take care of them during mom's recovery.  Have to say, never going to do that again.  We have other plans in place if the need arises.

Mom is doing very well.  Her skull lesions were obliterated by the radiation.  The lesions that have shown up in her spine are not getting any bigger for now.  Her and dad are still at their house, and they are happy with that.  I can't say that I blame them.  You work hard all your life to build a comfortable retirement and home.... why would you want to leave it?

I am back to work again.  This is probably my third job since my lay off in August.  I am working for a mobile ultrasound company three days a week.   It is physically demanding, but I am liking it so far.    I also am working at the local community college two evening a week teaching ultrasound.  This new work schedule is one that I feel will work for all of us.

Mom still can't drive ( she had seizures) but she should be able to drive in a month or two.  So for now, I am driving her around one day a week for errands and doctor's appointments.

The last few months, I was probably still overwhelmed and a bit depressed with everything going on.  I am feeling much better, like I have some control of my life again.  And it is a very good feeling!

Financially....... well, there were weeks that I never even looked at my checking account or savings account.  I would just hope and assume that there would be enough.  For the most part, that worked.  It was not financially sound, but it worked at the time.  God was definitely watching over me and my family.

That is about it in a nutshell.   I am feeling so much better, mom is doing great and for today, all is right with the world.
My grandson Caleb!

Welcome back... I was getting worried about you! I have had a bit of a stressful year, myself, so I can fully understand your desire to lay low for awhile.
