My Trip To The Laundromat

It is not often that I have to go to the Laundromat.  I am fortunate that I do have a dryer or I hang out my clothes.  BUT...... when I have to wash my king size bed comforter, I will take it to the local laundromat.   I  have to confess, I love to people watch when I go to the laundromat, don't you?
Okay, I love to people watch anywhere  I go.

This is my first visit to this laundromat.  It is one my son uses on occasion.  There is a Walgreen's on one side and McDonald's on the other side.  The laundromat is fairly small.  When you are attempting to move the wet clothes from the washers into the dryers... Well, it is a tight squeeze!
You gotta be careful of the dryer doors that are open as you navigate your way from the entrance to the back.

The gentleman folding his red shirt was a man of much laundromat knowledge.  He  was able to tell other customers where the money changer was, where the restrooms were, oh yea, he knew everything there was to know about the place.

Again, the aisle for you to get from point A to point B was ALWAYS crowded.  These people  are on a mission aren't they?

Of course..... who wants to spend a beautiful fall afternoon in the Laundromat??

The view from the front door.  Bet you never knew how fascinating a laundromat could be?   Okay.... maybe not so fascinating but definitely interesting.

Here is  my comforter on its last few  minutes of drying time.  It took way too long!!  I had things to do today!

Point of interest:  To wash the comforter in the "Big Boy" washer was  26 quarters or $6.50.    And the dryer charged a quarter for every 15 minutes.  I fed it  8 quarters or $2.00.

Not bad for a clean comforter!  And I didn't wreck my own washer from overloading it.

And here I am, at the back of the laundromat scoping out the other customers.... Not the worse way to spend an afternoon.  It was definitely entertaining!

LOL Love this post! We are lucky our laundromat has free dry with a wash so when I take the comforters I only have to pay for the wash, but they make you get this little card and load your money on there.

I adore people watching it always helps to pass the time

I love people watching - it's ALWAYS fascinating. No two are alike or so I've heard:) You look like you've been sitting for a long time and want to get outside in the sunshine, can't blame you BUT now you're winter comforter is fresh and clean. We just changed to our winter comforter yesterday - the nights are getting VERY chilly!

I never used one before not even visited. Would be interesting to visit once.

Heh, looks like you had a good time at the laundry mat and enjoyed the people watching. That's not bad for cleaning a blanket - i'll have to consider that next time I wash mine.

I remember when we sold our first house about 23 years ago. We made $19,000.00. We could not find another house to buy. We looked at over 100. I gave up and told the Realtor that I was just going to rent for the year. Then I took our 10 loads of weekly clothes to the local laundry. Interesting people to say the least. Needless to say I called the Realtor form a pay phone at the laundry and said find me a house! But I do agree, you need to use the over size washer for big stuff.

When we lived in Germany, we use to schleep our laundry to the Post (army base) once a week on a train no less. Dont' miss it that's for sure!

The King size comforter would tear up our home washer. The "big boys" at the laundromat are the best!

You should try it!

I hope you don't have to go for another 20 years :)

It was not that long... could have been worse. Could have had to bring ALL my laundry and spend most of the day there :)

Free dry??? That is wonderful! It was strictly cash and carry here. Well, all the quarters you have in your possession.
