Saturday Morning

Our destination
Happy Saturday!  It is a beautiful weekend and there is lots to do around here.  First thing this morning, the dogs and I went for a walk down to the lake.  The dogs love to get out and see what new scents are out there!

Later on today, we will be finishing up a few chores around the house.  Tomorrow we are hosting a "surprise" birthday party for a close family friend.  She thinks it is a "Halloween Party" for my grandson.  And she has offered to bring cupcakes for the kids.  To keep the surprise a surprise, I of course said "yes!"

Apparently I an not the "lead dog"
I love surprising others!  It is such fun to see their reaction.
Princess has to take a breather before we can go home :)
I have been working on my $500.00 Holiday Challenge this week.  For the most part, I have been double checking the gifts I already have and deciding on what else I need to purchase.   I will be updating my Challenge later this week.  My husband still would like a big shiny new compressor for his garage..... that will definitely be a budget stretcher.  But... we shall see.  If the kids can chip in and help it might be doable.

For the month of October, we have been using ONLY cash for our purchases.  I know... I should have been doing this all along, but I just could not commit to it 100%.   I have been inspired by Gail Vas Oxlade and her show "Til Debt Do Us Part".   The couples that are featured on the show have a huge amount a debt to pay down and with Gail's help and her challenges, they are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I have my money in jars and the "visual" really helps.  There is actually money left over!

I did make the banana bread yesterday (using my overripe bananas) and with a little bit of the  mango added in.  It turned out pretty good!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Your puppies are too cute.

Good luck with both your cash and Christmas budgeting.

The weather looks so nice there!! Today (Sunday) the sun is shining brightly here but it is very "crisp" outside. Perfect hiking weather. I hope your surprise party is a success - I too get much enjoyment out of surprising others. Glad you get to see Gail and her TV show where you are - she is my inspiration!!

I am looking forward to your "winter" pictures again. You manage to capture the prettiest images of Fall and Winter. And Gail is very inspiring indeed.
