A Weekend With Issac

Happy Saturday!  The above image and many similar to it are constantly and relentlessly played on the T.V news.  Not to mention the T.V. stations will cut in during the T.V shows with updates.  Now this is not a bad thing, in moderation.  But it seems like the television stations are making a super big deal of this TROPICAL STORM NOT YET A HURRICANE!

Yes, it can turn into a hurricane and change direction just like that.  That is the point.  These storms are unpredictable and can do what ever they want.  The television stations have talked so much about preparedness ( extra water, extra food, extra gas) that even those who have never experiences a hurricane are numb from all the repetitive information.

So we will wait and see what the storm does.  We are as prepared as we can be.

Today's agenda includes:

  • Grocery Shopping
  • Garage Sales
  • Laundry
  • Yard Work
  • Relax.......
How is your weekend looking?  Try to make time for some fun this weekend!

It Was a Wonderful Weekend

This past weekend was a weekend away from my parents, ( the neighbors kept an eye on them) and I had a "working" weekend at my own home.  Saturday after lunch, I took off from my parents and headed to my house.
The "boys"

My husband and two sons were already there working on the front door and the new storm door.  They were re-framing the front door because it just was not sitting "right" according to my husband.  The new storm door needed the same thing.  It took them practically all day.  Did I mention my husband is a perfectionist?  Oh yeah.

The tile guy was there ALL weekend and today as well.  He did an awesome job!!  I love it!
This is the BEFORE......

And this is the AFTER!!.....

Saturday, I again PAINTED my mom's bedroom the same yellow that she picked out.  This time the paint actually covered and it looked pretty good!  Yesterday, I painted the trim and was able to pull the room together.  Thank God That is done!!!

I have to confess, that I did not really want to leave my house today.  I dragged my heels......I hemmed and hawed....but I did make it over here a bit after lunch.   This will be my last week staying here full time.  I told mom today that  if all goes as planned, we will be moving her and dad out to my house.  If that is what she wants.  Her and dad will have to decide what they want.

Mom has good support from her church family and neighbors.  I would imagine that she will want to stay here and try things on her own again.  We will just take it one day at a time.  Hope your weekend was wonderful too!

Wrapping Up the Weekend

The weekend was definitely busy!  Saturday we had choir practice at church and after that my husband went to help out one of the church deacon's.  The deacon was have problems with his heater and after a few minutes it was determined there was a short in the ............. yeah.... I am not really sure where there was a short, but there was a short in something.

Saturday afternoon, I did get to Aldi's and picked up a few things.  You can see the the picture above.  total spent was $69.00.  Not too bad, I should be able to make it last the next week and then some.  Saturday evening I did "homework" to get ready for my students on Monday.  Funny how much you "forget" what you originally learned.  There is definitely a lot of time going into this new job.  But I imagine that next year I will remember more and not have to re-study quite as much.  At least that is what I am counting on.

Yesterday after church, we went to lunch at Firehouse Subs.  It had been a long time since we went out to eat after church.  The subs were delicious!  After lunch, we went shopping for a new artificial Christmas tree.  This expenditure was not in the budget, but our old tree was lost in the move.....or I threw it away.  I am not sure which.

We first went to Big Lots  hoping to find a cute and inexpensive tree.  Well, they were inexpensive, but definitely not cute.  K-Mart was having a 50% off sale on most of their trees so we went there and after a few minutes we agreed on a new tree.  Interestingly enough, we both liked the "white" tree as opposed to a traditional green artificial tree. Oh..... and the sale price for this lovely tree was $80.00.  Sigh.....

The tree is up and partially decorated.  I will finish it tonight.  I have one two more gift calendars to complete.  Several more presents to wrap and maybe about two more gift cards to find.  I had hoped to get more done by now, but I am definitely way ahead compared to last year.

Have a great Monday!

A Great Weekend So Far

This weekend has been wonderful.  Friday night, my grandson was able to spend the night, and don't you know we will drop everything we are doing while he is here.  The weather was cooler than usual

so we hung out outside, and practiced a little T-ball!  Oh yeah, It was definitely a blast for me an my husband.

Saturday, we went shopping and then it was time to take the our grandson back home.  I was exhausted and as usual when we keep our grandson, a nap is in order after he leaves.

Sunday, we went to church and came home after and had lunch. Then it was a trip to Tractor Supply about 30 miles away, to pick up a part for my husband's welder.  Oh yeah, we stopped at a roadside fruit vendor, and I am sure I paid way too much for peaches I bought.  Oh well, they were delicious.

Tomorrow, I am headed to a local Flea Market (which will be crazy busy because of the Holiday) to see what thrifty treasures I can find.  But, we are going early and we will be leaving before it gets too crowded.

This week, I was featured in the Yakezie Carnival – Jester Edition at the Ultimate Juggle. I hope you will visit and check it out!  This is my first time in a Carnival, and I am very excited!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day tomorrow!
