Impulse shopping will kill a budget. Yesterday I had discovered that ran out of detergent AND softener. So I went to Walgreens to pick up some. Now, had I decided to go a day earlier I would have been able to purchase Arm and Hammer Detergent (BOGO) With (2) one dollar coupons and would have saved an incredible amount of money! Needless to say, I paid full price for a bottle of Tide (6.99 dollars) and only have half the amount that I would have if I went a day earlier. Poor planning also leads to impulse buying. The trip also included a new doggie toy for the puppy, Renuzit spray for the furniture and softener... Not a coupon or BOGO special in sight.
It could have been worse. Hubs was along for the ride and he is also an impulse shopper. Luckily I reminded him we already have a Backgammon Board and that we did not need the one he put in the cart.
That kind of shopping will certainly blow a huge hole in anyone's budget! Sigh.
Merry Christmas!!

This is so true. My grocer had Silk (milk) 2/$5 a few weeks ago and I had 2 coupons for $2.25 off.
I told my husband to pick up 2 and we could freeze them. Lo and behold we needed milk for this week. No Silk on sale. We purchased it at full price $3.69-$2.25 coupon=$1.44
We could have purchased two for .50 cents just two weeks ago. But instead we paid $1.44 for one. Oh well. Frugality is a process.
Enjoy your Christmas.
Thanks hadias! You are so right! Frugality is definitely process with a learning curve. And then Life sometimes just gets in the way of ... well in the way of everything.
Blessings!
