My suspicions about my job being advertised (to replace me) were confirmed on Monday. The new management placed the ad in the newspaper and on the internet shortly after the HR director was mutually let go. My facility manager did not know about it, but when she had a meeting with the powers that be, they did confirm that they will be "replacing" me. Okay.... but then she said that I am not going to be replaced but my hours are definitely going to be reduced. Great..... from 40 hours to now 28 hours and even more reductions coming in the future???
What it really boils down to is that they don't want to actually say that I will be replaced so I will hang around and continue working. This way... they don't have to pay for expensive contract techs. And ..... if they do keep me around, well then they won't have to pay unemployment for laying me off. True or not.... this is what I think they are thinking. Jerks!
I will stay for now and ride it out. ( There are not that many jobs out there). But on the other hand, I believe that God has a plan for me and this is part of the process. He has brought me this far and I know he will provide an even better opportunity for me.
So... I have been busy looking for yet another job, and studying for my Vascular registry which has not left much time for blogging. So I am still here.... just extremely busy!
I hope you all have a great week!

Sorry to hear this.. but start looking ASAP.
I am sorry, it is such a cut throat world. No loyalty, no ethics but boy do they expect them from us. Keep it up.
Oh Lisa, sorry to hear about your work dilemma. I sure hope you can find something else to replace this job with. And what a good thing you found out when you did otherwise...what a shock! Good luck job hunting...wish I could offer more than just "luck"!
I just wonder how these types people sleep at night. The decent thing to do would to at least have the decency to let you know before it was advertised. It just seems like management in most companies have no ethics at all anymore. all the best for your job hunt!
That really stinks, for lack of a better word. Glad you have a heads up though, and weren't completely blindsided. Hopefully another opportunity will come up soon!
Didn't you sign a contract that said you were given 40 hour weeks / fulltime? There are two sides of a contract and they have to hold up their end as well. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but remember you do have rights too!
That is completely unprofessional of them. I'm sorry that you have to put up with that BS. Keep looking for a different job.
I am so sorry. I hate when I hear about companies that do this.
Judy
Thanks Judy. I hate it too.
Hi ND, The job search continues.
Hi Sharon,
Opportunity is just around the corner. Positive thoughts!
Hi JP,
No contract signed. Verbal agreement.
Decency is a rare commodity. Bigger and better things are coming.
Hi Jane,
Thanks! The job search continues!
Kim,
Definitely no loyalty. Thanks for the well wishes!
Hi investor Junkie,
The job search continues! Thanks!
Yikes, what I slimy thing for your company to do. Good luck on your job search!
Slimy is a good word for it, and thanks for the well wishes.
I assume when you say they won't have to pay Unemployment Compensation if you are laid off, you mean they don't have to pay UNTIL they lay you off. Cuz they are definitely going to have to pay it. We're going through lay-offs at my work, which is painful for everyone--at least I'm grateful my employer is feeling it as much as the employees are. Sad that yours are such jerks--I wonder if they expect their employees to be loyal to them?
Grace,
Good to know about the unemployment. I have a feeling they will reduce my hours to the point that I will want to quit. I will hang in there just to be a reminder of how NOT to treat employees. As far as loyalty, it exists.....until the next best thing comes along.
