Last week I was able to claim my first week of unemployment. I went online and answered the questions and the web site said it was all good. I kept checking my bank account waiting for the deposit to be made, and as of yesterday there was no money from unemployment. So yesterday, I was on the phone calling them with questions about why. Calling the unemployment 1 800 number is a lesson in patience. You call, and call, and when you do get through, the automatic response tells you that all representatives are busy and then hangs up! Super frustrating!! After about 1 hour of the silly stupid lesson in patience, I finally was put on hold to talk to a representative. I then waited for 15 minutes listening to the repetitive message that the call volume on Monday and Tuesdays is higher than usual.
After I was beat into mindless submission, the real person finally answered. She was very nice and patient with me. She looked into my file to find out why I did not receive a payment. She said that my file is under review because I voluntarily left my job!! No... I did not! The only thing I can figure out is that they are only looking at my employer that I left to go to the new place, (that eliminated my position). She said go back on the website and re-file my claim (which I did) and a caseworker would be calling me. Oh... I hope so. I certainly hope so.
Without any income, I am definitely sure I will have a few more "no-spend" days than usual!

Thanks Michelle!
Ugh!! How frustrating!! I really hope they figure things out & fast! I always hear stories like this about EI! They sure don't like to make things easier for people!!
It does sound extremely frustrating. I hope it gets worked out as soon as possible.
Thanks Carla.
