Spending Less and Living More Goals

I am looking forward to a year of Spending Less and Living More.  That being said, here are a few of my goals both long term and short term.

1.  Decrease Credit Card Debt.  Between me and my husband, we have a total Credit Card Debt of 11,660.00.  My CC debt is 3450.00 and his CC debt is 8210.00 I knew that we had credit card debt, but when you actually write down the numbers and see exactly how much you do owe, it is an eye opener.  Denial is definitely a coping factor for me.  The goal for this year is to reduce our CC debt by half.

2. Move.  I want to move.  Currently, we live in a large metropolitan area that is crowded, congested with traffic that is out of control.  I plan to rent my current residence (which still carries a mortgage) and move to a more rural area in the next county.  My grown children live there and each time I visit one of them, I know in my heart that I want to be out there with them.  I am looking for a smaller home with acreage, preferably by a lake.  When I accomplish this, I will definitely be "Living More"!

3.  Evaluate Monthly Bills and Cutting Back.  We are going to look more closely at our monthly bills and look at some areas that we can cut back on.
Cell Phone.  My husband does not currently use his own cell phone, because his work provides him with a cell phone. We can eliminate his from our plan.
Cable.   Just received our cable bill yesterday. It went up about 12.00 dollars and runs us about 147.00 per month.  This includes DVR, HD TV, and our Road Runner Cable.  Am going to call and see where we can cut back.
House Phone.  Eliminate it.  We don't use it, and we have cell phones that we use more.
Eating Out.  We could definitely do better on this.
Groceries. Another area that can use some work.  How is it that two people can spend over 400.00 per month on groceries?  We both pack a lunch from home for work each day, so this is part of the cost.

4.  Put aside some money to take a trip to either Las Vegas or Washington DC.  I estimate that we will need about 2000.00 to make this happen.  And yes, I do know that this money could go towards debt....

These are my basic goals for Spending Less and Living More Year.  I hope you will join along and follow my progress on this journey.

You should cancel cable TV and join Netflix. TV is a huge time sink and you can use that time to do more productive things like working on your blog. :)
