The Warrant Was Issued

My oldest son, J, called me today and told me that the warrant for his arrest was issued today.  He has been checking the online site daily, and he saw it today.  His probation officer has not yet called him to let him know, so he will wait to hear from her.  She said she would give him the head's up, and then he could turn himself in.

He wants to wait until at least next Tuesday before he turns himself in.  Next Tuesday he meets with a public defender from a different county regarding driving with a suspended license. That court date is for December 20th.  Who knows if he will be in our county jail then or out on bond.

He said his bond for this charge was 500.00 dollars.  He knows that neither his sister nor myself can help him financially this time.  We are about tapped out.  So, he is trying to call his younger brother to help him.  J wants to sell a couple of generators to his brother and his brother's friends to raise the money.  I don't know how that is going...

J is going to his mandated counseling (from his DUI) and also to AA meetings (also mandated).  He says that he is listening more this time around.  God, I hope so.

I am not too upset by all this.  We have all had time to get use to the idea and I am okay with it.  Well.... as okay as a mom can be.  So... really I am just "pretending" to be okay with it.

Just because you were expecting it to happen does,nt make it one bit easier when it actually does. However this cloud has a small but noticeable silver lining, and that is that your Son seems to be doing something about his drinking habits.
If he has to serve time, it could turn his life around, and yours.

((((((hugs )))))) & xxxxxx

Always bailing kids out of their problems is a form of enablement. Sometimes the best thing you can do is let suffer the full consequences of their actions and hope they learn some valuable lessons that ultimately changes their behavior. Try putting an Interlock device in the car. It may be mandated by your state as part of the court case anyone. At least that way the car won't start if he's been drinking.
