Movin On Up!

We are looking to move. We have been in the same house for 28 years.  It is not close to being paid for.  We have refinanced it more than once.... You know... pay off credit card debt with a HELOC... and then do it again. It was so easy to charge, charge, charge when you erased all credit card debt.  The last time we refinanced we sent my husband back to school.  No more HELOC's, just a mortgage.  Now we want to leave this neighborhood and move closer to our daughter and sons.

That is not the only reason.  There is a matter of safety.  Last year, our house was hit by bullets from a gang related drive by shooting.  The bullet went through the garage door, the washroom wall, hit my iron and smashed it to smithereens!  Our neighbor's house took several bullets to the house and to his truck.  The damage to his truck was about 2500.00 dollars.  Damage to his house, the bullets went from the front window to the back of the house.  By the way, they are moving next month.  They have two small children and don't want to live in fear. Nor do I.

So, yes... we are seriously looking.  We have found two possibilities. They are definite fixer uppers... but we like to do that.  We have done all we can to this house and now we are very excited to move on and do it again.  If we do get the house, am going to call "Renovation Realities" and they can come out and tape a TV show about our adventures. Lol!

We will rent this house until the market returns to normal and then we will see what happens.  This is definitely not something that Dave Ramsey would recommend, but it is what we want. Now... If I can just get the Realtor to call me back.  She is not the most hands on person.  If she does not respond today, I am going to get another Realtor to work with us.

So that is it for now.

It sounds as if you are making the right choice for your safety,s sake, I don,t have a clue how sales are going in your area but renting does sound like a really good option. Will you be downsizing when you next buy ??

Get a Realtor you can trust.

Wow - big changes! I can't imagine what you've gone through - drive by shooting OMG!! Get out of that neighbourhood for sure my dear and don't look back. Sure hope you can find someone to rent for a reasonable price. Having a new place to fix up will keep your mind busy on positive things - good luck!

I would definitely watch that you get a responsible and reliable realtor.

Those people can kill your enthusiasm if they aren't good.

Yes we will be downsizing. And it is very difficult to find a Realtor that you can rely upon. Either they are really busy or the price range that we are interested in does not interest them.
Their loss. We are pre approved and ready to move.
