Food Waste Friday

Hello Friday. It is that time of the week again, where I choose to reveal my wasteful ways.  Hidden deep within the Vegetable bin,  under the celery were these less than appealing tomatoes and lonely cucumber. It is a reflection on our dismal salad eating attempts this week.  I didn't  have a planned menu this week, (slacker!!) so my daily menus are a bit of this and that.  I will be back on track next week!

I did manage to use up my bananas before that became too mushy.  Banana bread with four of them and the rest I froze to use later in another bread or a smoothie.I have not tried frozen bananas in a smoothie, but I think it will work.

I am joining  The Frugal Girl in sharing my wasteful ways.

use these up in smoothie or puree or compost them.

Love frozen bananas in a smoothie, but you should peel the bananas before freezing or you'll have to either:
A) Let thaw.. (eww in a smoothie)
B) Cut off the peel.

Good tip Carla! We use our bananas in banana bread also but smoothies would be a good idea too. We don't have too much waste around here but of course there are always those forgotten items buried under this and that. My daughter only eats the things that are right in the top or front layer so over the summer she wasted a ton of food!

I need to start composting, but since the move I have not yet started.

I will be cutting off the peel. This time.

Good for you Lisa coming clean with your wasteful ways. Food is really tough since you don't always have a choice on the quantities you buy at the store.

Frozen Bananas! Why didn't I think of that?? I usually just let them go black and then throw them in the composter (or bin if there's not enough room in there!)

Glad to see someone sharing their wasteful ways. Although it's nothing to be proud of, it draws attention to how much people waste in the West!
